Three Years Later: How Time Shapes My INTJ Personality
September 29, 2024
Today, I want to write about something more personal instead of my usual project updates. That said, there'll be some news about my Doom-style engine soon. Anyway, back in September 2021, I took a personality test on the 16Personalities.com website, and the result was INTJ. The description of the INTJ personality type resonated with me, so I accepted it as an accurate reflection of who I am.
The website recommends not retaking the test more than once every six months. Well, I hadn't retaken it in three years, but today I decided to give it another go. Unsurprisingly, I'm still classified as an INTJ - why would my type change, right? However, the results were still interesting because the percentages in each category shifted, some quite dramatically, as you can see in the screenshot below:
I've become less introverted, more intuitive, more rational in my thinking, more judging, and more assertive. It's fascinating because, even though the questions are the same (as far as I recall), my answers have clearly changed over the last three years. Over time, you gain more knowledge and experience, which inevitably shapes your behavior and worldview.
In the grand scheme, it might not be life-altering, but seeing how your personality evolves over time is still fascinating. Maybe I'll retake the test in another three years, and we'll see what has changed by then.
